PR Aura

The code review economy for your team.

PR Aura is a GitHub App that turns code review into a small economy. Developers earn aura by reviewing their teammates' pull requests and spend it when they merge their own. Everything happens inside GitHub: a check on each PR, one bot comment, a leaderboard issue and a few /aura commands.

PR Aura is in a private beta. It only works for invited teams, and it is free while the beta lasts.

How it works

  1. You open a PR. The PR Aura check shows your balance, the merge cost and the PR size.
  2. Teammates review it. Each reviewer's reward appears as pending in the bot comment.
  3. When the PR merges into the default branch, everything settles at once: the author pays the merge cost and every reviewer is paid. If it is closed without merging, no aura moves.
  4. The leaderboard issue updates with the week's results.

FAQ

What is PR Aura?

A GitHub App for teams that want faster code review. Reviewing a teammate's pull request earns aura, and merging your own costs aura. It works inside GitHub, with no dashboard to open.

Does it block merges?

Only in hard mode. In soft mode, the default, the check is neutral and never blocks a merge. In hard mode the check fails when your balance does not cover the pull request, and GitHub blocks the merge once PR Aura is a required status check.

What data does it store?

GitHub ids and logins of the people who take part, pull request numbers, states, sizes and dates, review types and the aura ledger. Never code, pull request titles, comments, review text or emails. Details in the privacy policy.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. PR Aura is free during the closed beta.

How do I get access?

The beta is closed: the app only works for invited accounts, and on any other account it does nothing. Email fxgal.dev@gmail.com with your organization's name to request access.

How do I uninstall it?

In the settings of the organization or account where it is installed, open the installed GitHub Apps, choose Configure next to PR Aura and then Uninstall. That deletes your organization's data. The leaderboard issue and the bot's comments stay on GitHub until you delete them.
